The Afghan Hound breed is an aristocrat, has a straight front, proudly carried head and eyes gazing into the distance as if in memory ages past. Moving with head and tail high, the appearance is one of great style and beauty.

AKC Breed Group: Hounds.

Breed Weight: 50 - 60 lbs.

Breed Height: 25 - 27 inches.

Coat: long and fine hairs, should be shown in its natural state.

Characteristics and temperaments: Males can be dominant towards other males, aloof and dignified. Tolerant of children but can't be completely obedient.

Care: Careful grooming twice a week. Ear passages kept clean.

Training and activity: Afghan Hound breed needs a lot of exercise like running to burn energy. Sometimes it is hard to train this breed because of its independence.
