Color(s): light gray to intermediate shadings to black, also shades of sable or red with shadings or all white.
Coat: Malamutes has dense, oily and wooly undercoat, and thick and coarse outercoat.
Characteristics and temperaments: Alaskan Malamutes are loyal, affectionate and friendly. They are usually good as a companion dog, playful and can get along with kids. Dignity is one of the temperament that makes this breed impressive.
Care: Good combing and grooming are usually enough, although more intensive care is required during shedding.
Training and activity: This dog requires a lot of training and outdoor exercises to burn excessive energy. This is needed to keep healthy and happy, due to the nature of being a powerful sled.
