The Belgian Malinois breed is elegant, well muscled and alert. Being confident and affectionate with his owners make this dog a great companion for the whole family. Malinois are active dogs, reserved with strangers and makes a careful watchdog.

Breed Weight: 60 - 65 lbs.

Breed Height: 22 - 26 inches.

Belgian Malinois Breed

Color(s): rich fawn to mahogany with black tipped hairs, black mask and ears.

Coat: short, straight and hard; undercoat is dense.

Characteristics and temperaments: Belgian Malinois is not aggresive and naturally protective. He is good for working and obedience. Other temperaments include alert, loyal and watchful.

Care: Because the coat is short, it is easy to groom. Brush regularly and bathe only when necessary. Shed heavily twice a year.

Training and activity: This dog must be socialized from puppies so he has no problem to get along with children. Belgian Malinois can be dominant toward other dogs, but should be of no problem if properly trained. This breed is probably not suitable for first time dog owner because of its independence at times. A lot of energy burning activity is suitable to keep him happy.
