Coat: double-coated; outercoat is coarse, hard, long, wavy and dry; undercoat is fine and dense.

Characteristics and temperaments: The Briad is tough, alert, loyal and independent. He is not a dog for everyone, and requires a firm owner that is able to lead. He loves to work and stay active.

Care: The coarse coat requires a bit more attention and careful groom to keep in good shape. Ears must be kept clean.

Training and activity: The dog needs patience and consistence to be trained properly. As a working dog, he love to swim and run. Too little activities will make him unhappy and restless. If you are going to adopt a puppy Briard, make sure you can give him sufficient activities and training. This dog can be aggressive and suspicious if not properly trained and socialized, but is a perfect companion otherwise.
