Cairn Terrier Breed Information

The Cairn Terrier breed is small and compact working terrier. He is active and can adapt to various city and country environments. His head is broad with black nose and bushy eyebrows. Although he can be independent at times, overally this breed makes a good companion and is friendly.

Breed Weight: 13 - 14 lbs.
Breed Height: 9.5 - 10 inches.

Color(s): red, brindle, blackish, sand, any color except white. Dark points are preferred on ears, eyes and muzzles.
Coat: Double-coated; undercoat is close, soft ans short, outercoat is harsh and shaggy.
Characteristics and temperaments: The Cairn Terrier has high spirit, restless alert, loyal and friendly. Although small in size, he is fearless and bold. The dog usually gets along well with children if proper socialization is provided.
Care: The coat takes careful grooming and brushing to keep in good shape. Bathe and brush regularly. Remove dead hair every six months. Well maintained, he has a great looking shaggy and natural coat.
Training and activity: The dog can adapt to apartment life if you can take him for regular exercise. A small yard is best for him to get enough exercise. Involve this breed in a firm, consistent and loving training will produce great companion dog.
