The Canaan breed has keen hearing and smell capabilities. Raise and properly socialized, he can be naturally loyal and a great watchdog for the family. This breed excels as a herder and other tasks that require obedience and dependability.

AKC Breed Group: Herding.

Breed Weight: 35 - 55 lbs.

Breed Height: 19 - 24 inches.

Canaan Breed

Color(s): predominantly white with mask or without additional color patches; solid color with or without white trim.

Coat: Double-coated; under-coat is soft and outer-coat is flat and straight.

Characteristics and temperaments: The Canaan breed is intelligent, devoted and willing to please. He is alert and reserved with strangers. Although independent, he can be cooperative with his owner. Very friendly with those he knows, this breed makes a perfect watchdog.

Care: The dog is easy to groom. Regular combing and brushing should suffice, although more intensive care should be taken during shedding.

Training and activity: This breed requires a lot of exercise regularly to stay happy. As a working dog, he loves to get involve in challenging training, games, and herding. Training should be fun and simply, given his intelligence.
