Color(s): Any color of brown, sedge and deadgrass. White spots are permissible.

Coat: Double-coated; outer-coat is harsh, under-coat is dense and wooly.

Characteristics and temperaments: The Chesapeake Bay Retriever is bright, intelligent, courage, active, and aggressive at times. This type of retriever is probably not for inexperienced owners and tends to dominate other male dogs.

Care: The coat is easy to groom. Bathe only when necessary. Remove dead hairs with a firm bristle brush. This breed is an average shedder.

Training and activity: Being energetic, this dog requires a lot of exercise and play time. Not only does he want to walk and run, but also play catch and swim. Boredom and badly behaved Chesapeake usually is caused by boredom and lack of exercise.
