English Cocker Spaniel Breed Information

The English Cocker Spaniel breed is a medium-sized, compact, alert and entertaining dog. He likes to be handled with respect, of which he can be a great companion and learn quickly. He can live well with children as long but does not tolerate teasing well.

Breed Weight: 26 - 34 lbs.

Breed Height: 14 - 17 inches.

Color(s): Parti-colors: white, black, liver and shades of red. Also permissible in solid colors like black and tans and liver and tans.

Coat: Silky, straight to slightly wavy, and medium-length.

Characteristics and temperaments: Intelligent, lively, affectionate, and fast to learn. The English Cocker Spaniel loves to be around people. He should be treated with tenderness and is a good active companion. Socialized well, he can live along with cats in the household.

Care: The medium-length coat requires regular brushing and combing. Trimming is needed to keep him in a good shape. Take him to personal groomer at least two times a year.

Training and activity: Trained gently but firmly, this breed learns pretty fast and is willing to please, although he can be independence at times. The dog can adjust to the activity level of his family but a regular long walk, running and swimming can make him happy.
