The German Wirehaired Pointer is medium-sized and muscle dog. He is affectionate, active, lively and vigorous. They can get along well with children but better with older people. The dog makes a good watchdog and loves to work for his owner.

Color(s): liver and white, any black in the coat is not allowed.
Coat: double-coated; undercoat is dense. Outercoat is straight, wiry, flat lying, thick and harsh.
Characteristics and temperaments: The German Wirehaired Pointer is active, steady and affectionate. They can be jealous and willful at times. The dog is aloof to strangers, but friendly to those they know. Socialization should be done from early age.
Care: Bathe when necessary. Regularly brushing is enough to keep the coat in a good shape. Keep the ears clean.
Training and activity: This breed is energetic and requires sufficient exercise, otherwise he may become easily bored. If you plan to adopt a puppy, make sure you can provide ample of exercise. As an energetic hunter, he likes to run, swim and retrieve.
