Glen of Imaal Breed Information

The Glen of Imaal breed is a medium-sized, sturdy and short-legged dog. The name came from a region in Ireland. The dog is spirited, brave, stubborn but patient and loyal. They excel in game and hunting. Glens will only bark when they detect danger.

Breed Weight: 34 - 36 lbs.
Breed Height: 14 - 15 inches.

Color(s): blue, brindle or shades of wheaten.
Coat: medium-length; outer-coat is harsher than the under-coat.
Characteristics and temperaments: The Glen of Imaal adapt well to his owner. Not only they are intelligent, brave, but also patient, loyal and gentle with his family. The dog gets along well with children, but not with other animals. They can be trained to live with other dogs though.
Care: The coat is easy to groom. Pluck hair in the ears regularly.
Training and activity: The dog loves to run and play so it is best if you can provide that. Otherwise, it can adapt to the exercise and activity level of family member. The breed is sensitive to correction, making the training fun. Training should be done consistently and include playing session.
