The Harrier breed excels in following scents. They have large bones compared to the size. The dogs are compact, fast, hardy and outgoing. The level of playfulness is somewhere between the Foxhound and Beagle. As the dogs were developed to live and hunt in pack, they prefer to live with other dogs.

Breed Weight: 40 - 60 lbs.

Breed Height: 19 - 21 inches.

Coat: short, hard, dense and glossy.

Characteristics and temperaments: The Harrier breed is playful, outgoing, tolerant, mild-tempered and prefers to live in pack. He gets along well with other dogs but not other non-canine pets unless properly socialized form puppyhood.

Care: The short and dense hair is easy to groom. As an average shedder, occasional brush and comb is required to remove dead hair.

Training and activity: This breed is a great companion for various outdoor exercise. He must get enough exercise to keep healthy and happy. Country environments are best for this dog. If you like jogging, Harriers can be a perfect companion. Training should involve many outdoor activities.
