Havanese Breed Information

The Havanese breed is a small, sturdy, but not fragile. Probably the most distinguishing characteristics are its profuse and untrimmed coat. They love to play, very sociable with people, other dogs and pets. They are also brave and can make a good watchdog.

Breed Weight: 7 - 13 lbs.

Breed Height: 8 - 11 inches.

Havanese Breed

Color(s): all colors including parti-color and tricolors; gold, cream, white, silver, blue and black.

Coat: double-coated; outercoat carries more weight. Wavy, soft, and light.

Characteristics and temperaments: The Havanese is lively, playful and alert. Few tends to bark a lot but can be trained to not do it. The cheerful dogs get along with people, dogs and cats. They are also sensitive to their owner and trainer.

Care: The coat can be clipped a bit. If you decide to let the coat untrimmed, intensive brushing and combing is necessary. They usually shed little to no hair. Eyes and ears should be checked regularly.

Training and activity: This breed requires moderate amount of exercise. Short walks once or twice daily should be sufficient. Because of his eagerness and willingness to please, training is usually fun. The breed has a long reputation as a circus dog.
