Komondor Breed Information

The Komondor breed is a massive, muscular, alert and confident dog. They are very protective of their family. Not only they are reserved with other dogs but also strangers. They make a good family dog provided properly socialization has taken place as a puppy. It is best to have no children in the family with this breed, unless he was introduced to the children from early age.

Breed Height: 25.5 - 27.5 inches.

Coat: dense, long and heavy. The length of the coat grows as the dog matures.
Characteristics and temperaments: The Komondor is serious, alert and confident dog which is very territorial and protective. They make a good watchdog, loyal to their family and independent and aggressive sometimes. The dogs are smart but easily bored. They also have a dominating and assertive personality.
Care: Brushing and combing are not recommended. Professional grooming is needed though. Bathe only when necessary.
Training and activity: This breed loves intensive activities outdoors. Complete and firm obedience training by an experienced owner is required as this dog can be very willful. Socialization should take place as soon as possible. The dog can naturally meets its own needs for exercise if kept outdoors.
