Kuvasz Breed Information

The Kuvasz breed is a large, well-balanced, sturdy-built with a handsome head and muscular dog. The dog is intelligent, curious, fearless and bold at the same time. He makes an excellent guard dog and devoted to his family. Do not leave this dog unsupervised with children.

Breed Weight: 70 - 115 lbs.

Breed Height: 26 - 30 inches.

Color(s): white.

Coat: medium coarse, long-haired, straight to slightly wavy. The undercoat is soft and fine.

Characteristics and temperaments: The Kuvasz is intelligent, determined and has strong protective instinct. He originated as a guard dog for livestock. The protective instinct can be fought somewhat with early socialization. The dog is very independent at times.

Care: Avoid bathing. Daily brushing is necessary to keep the coat in good shape. This breed sheds quite heavily in warm weather.

Training and activity: As a puppy, this dog requires obedience training and socialization to be well-behaved. Training should be done in a hand of a dominance, consistence and firm person. This breed is not suitable for first time dog owner. The Kuvasz needs ample of daily exercise outdoors like long walks.
