Lakeland Terrier Breed Information

The Lakeland Terrier breed is a squarely-built, elegant, solid and friendly dog. They are loving and also affectionate. This breed loves children but can be protective to their toys and food. It is best for the owner who can pay a lot of attention to this dog, as it will back and be a great companion.

Breed Weight: 15 - 17 lbs.
Breed Height: 13.5 - 14.5 inches.

Color(s): solid colors (black, liver, blue, red and wheaten). Wheaten or golden tan with saddle of black, blue, liver or grizzle.
Coat: Double-coated; the undercoat is softer and outercoat is hard and wiry.
Characteristics and temperaments: The Lakeland Terrier breed gets along with other dogs, which is not typical for Terriers. Socialization makes them friendly even to cats and other animals. The breed can be reserved with strangers. They also are cheerful, active, intelligent and affectionate.
Care: Ears should be kept clean. Pluck the coat twice a year. Trim excessive hair between the pads of the feet.
Training and activity: Owners may find it difficult to housebreak this breed but overall they also learn quickly. This dog likes challenges so it is best to involve him in variety of training. Although he can lives in apartment and adapt to other family members activiy level, he still prefer to have regular exercise and be able to run and play off the leash regularly.
