The Lhasa Apso breed is a friendly, intelligent, lively and assertive dog, but can be quite suspicious of strangers. They are independent and protective to the owner who takes care of them. It is best to have the dog in a home without children as he may not tolerate rough behavior.

Breed Weight: 13 - 15 lbs.

Breed Height: 10 - 11 inches.

Color(s): cream, gold and honey are the most common but also white, brown, black, grizzle, slate and multicolors.

Coat: Two-ply; Outercoat is long and straight; undercoat is shorter and softer than the topcoat.

Characteristics and temperaments: The Lhasa Apso breed is calm, loyal, devoted and lovable dog. They get along well with older children who know how to handle dogs, other household pets and dogs. This breed makes a good companion dog as they like to be around people.

Care: The coat doesn't need trimming but some owners choose to do so to ease grooming. Pay attention to eyes and ears for cleanliness. Dry shampoo when necessary.

Training and activity: Some dogs are more willful but overall they respond well to obedient training. Harsh words is not the way to god, but positive reinforcement is. Dominant owner is the most suitable for this breed. This dog has normal exercise requirement. They are suitable for apartment life.
