Miscellaneous Class Breeds

There are several hundred breeds of purebred dogs not recognized by AKC (The American Kennel Club). The AKC develops a process to recognize new breeds they can be recognized fully.

Breeds which fall into Miscellaneous class category/ group usually are limited in term of competition and championship points. A breed can enter the group for a year or two while the parent club complies with the recognition process.

AKC Miscellaneous breeds include Beauceron, Plott, Redbone Coonhound, Swedish Vallhund and Tibetan Mastiff.
