Papillon Breed Information

The Papillon breed is a small, friendly, light, active and elegant toy dog. The name means butterfly in French. It is because the ears of the dog resembles a butterfly. The dog prefers to live closely with his family and becomes attached affectionately for life. They generally get along well with children but preferably with considerate ones.

Breed Height: 8 - 11 inches.

Color(s): white with patches (parti-color).
Coat: long, fine, silky, straight and abundant.
Characteristics and temperaments: The Papillon breed is friendly and intelligent. They are playful, patient, dignify and silent. Sometimes they can show possessiveness of its owners but overall make great companions. This breed can get along well with cats as long as proper socialization was taken place as a puppy.
Care: The long and silky coat needs daily combing and brushing. Bathe only when necessary because these dogs are odorless and clean.
Training and activity: These dogs are willing to learn so training should be fun. The best way to approach them is by using a gentle but consistent approach. This breed can be difficult to housebreak though. You don't have to satisfy any exercise requirement of the dog because he will automatically adapts to the activity level of your family.
