The Redbone Coonhound breed is a robust, strong, clean, well-balanced, and handsome dog. They are even-tempered and make good companion for children. This breed loves to be around people all of the time. It is best to adopt this dog as a puppy to familiarize him with the family members.

Characteristics and temperaments: The Redbone Coonhound breed is agile, happy, and pleasant dog. They excel in coon hunting, trailing and treeing bear and bobcat. They make good and affectionate companion at home. They also can get along pretty well with cats as long as proper socialization has taken place as a puppy.
Care: As a light shedder, the coat only needs occasional brushing.
Training and activity: This breed is energetic and needs a lot of physical exercise. They also are born natural hunters, so it is best to keep them on leash when not in secure area. If you give them ample of room, they will adapt their own exercise requirement. Although they are inactive indoors and will do okay in an apartment life, they need regular exercise.
