The Rottweiler breed is a medium large, powerful, compact, strong, agile and strong dog. Being muscular and athletic, these dogs are also calm, trainable, courageous, and devoted to their owner and family. The Rottie is a natural guard dog which will defend his family fiercely.

Coat: short, thick, coarse. double-coated; outercoat is straight, dense and of medium-length. Undercoat presents on neck and thighs.

Characteristics and temperaments: The Rottweiler breed is calm, confident and reliable. They make excellent guard dogs. This breed can get along very well with family members and other relatives, but not with strangers. Consistent training makes this breed a good playmate for children too. Cats and other household pets are okay as long as the dog has had proper socialization since puppyhood.

Care: As an average shedder, you need to remove loose and dead hairs regularly. Bathe only when necessary.

Training and activity: This breed requires plenty of exercise to stay happy and healthy. Running, swimming, and retrieving are three favorite activities they like. Being dominance, this breed needs a trainer who is consistent, firm and fair.
