Saluki Breed Information

The Saluki breed is a long and narrow, even-tempered, sensitive, gentle and affectionate dog. They are loyal to their owner and may become attached to one person. They can get along well with older children who are more considerate. Do not trust this breed with non-canine animals.
AKC Breed Group: Hound.
Breed Weight: 35 - 65 lbs.
Breed Height: 17 - 28 inches.

Color(s): white, cream, golden, red, grizzle, fawn, black and tan, tricolor, or any of these on white background.
Coat: smooth and silky, slightly wooly on the thigh and shoulder.
Characteristics and temperaments: The Saluki breed has a great hunting instinct so it may not be appropriate with other non-canine pets. They are best with other dogs with the same type though. This breed is usually graceful, peaceful and likes to be around his family but can be independent and has their own mind at times.
Care: Regular brushing and combing is required. Ears must be kept clean.
Training and activity: This breed is not the best obedient dog so don't expect too much. With consistency and patience, they can be trained to a certain degree though. Obedience training is required to keep the hunting instinct under control. Salukis require plenty of exercise, but should not be leaved to have their own exercise because they may follow their own way and never come back. They can run very fast so the best exercise is to trot them alongside your bike.
