The Scottish Deerhound breed is a large, tall, slim and rough-coated greyhound. They are also gentle, elegant and affection. These dogs are not suitable for apartment living unless trained to live in such environment since puppyhood. The tail is long and nearly reaches the ground.

Breed Weight: 75 - 110 lbs.

Breed Height: 28 - 32 inches.

Color(s): all shades of gray and gray brindle, preferably with dark blue-gray.

Coat: rough, medium-length, harsh and wiry.

Characteristics and temperaments: The Scottish Deerhound is quiet, friendly and loving dog. They make excellent companion for children. They love everyone, making them unsuitable for watch or guard dogs. They may show willfulness at times. This sighthound should get along well with other dogs, but should not be trusted with non-canine-pets.

Care: The wiry coat needs more attention and grooming. This breed is an average shedder.

Training and activity: This breed requires ample of exercise. It is best if you only leave these dogs off leash in safe and secure area because of their agility and preference to chase. If you need a jogging companion, this dog may be suitable for you. These dogs learn quickly and respond very well to commands.
