The Scottish Terrier breed is a strong, active, agile and sturdy little dog with short legs and thoughtful look. They are brave, alert, protective and lovable. These dogs can get moody and snappish at times. Overall, they make very good watchdogs. This breed tend to bond to one or two people in their family members.

Coat: wiry and hard. Undercoat is softer than the outercoat.
Characteristics and temperaments: The Scottish Terrier is a charming, dignify, and lovable dog. This breed likes to bark and dig. They are most appropriate for older and considerate children. Good for apartment living, they are quite inactive indoors. Basically when it comes to temperament, they are reliable.
Care: The wiry coat needs regular brushing to keep it in top condition. Professional trimming is required twice a year. This breed sheds little to no hair.
Training and activity: Although they can live in apartments, it is best if you can bring them along for a walk or play session. They love to fetch sticks and balls. If you have a reasonable size of yard, they will exercise themselves. The Scotties must be involved in obedience training, which should take a consistent but persuasive approach. They are also sensitive to criticism and praise.
