Shiba Inu Breed Information

The Shiba Inu breed is an alert, agile, well-developed muscles, compact and bold dog. They are miniatures of the Japanese Akita dogs. Indepent but loving, kind and affectionate. These dogs are fast, playful, charming, calm and bond closely with owner. They get along well with children but may be a bit reserved with strangers.

Breed Weight: 20 - 30 lbs.
Breed Height: 13.5 - 16.5 inches.

Coat: short, straight-haired. Undercoat is softer and thicker and the outercoat.
Characteristics and temperaments: The Shiba Inu is an alert, lively, and fearless dog. They bond closely with their owners but remain independent. This breed can't get along well and should not be trusted with other small pets. They like to be near their family and will be much happier living indoors.
Care: The Shiba is a clean dog which sometimes washes his own face. Remove dead hairs with firm bristle brush. This breed is a seasonally heavy shedder.
Training and activity: These dogs are basically active and would be happier and healthier when given the opportunities to exercise. However they can adapt to the activity level of their family members. Socialization as a puppy is required to avoid over-aggressiveness. This breed is easy to housebreak.
