The Standard Schnauzer breed is a robust, sturdy, muscular, square-built working dog. They are fearless, hight-spirited, affectionate, playful, intelligent and demanding. This breed is protective and makes a great watch and guard dog. This dog is also good for apartment life. He is very active indoors.

Coat: hard, wiry, tight and thick. Double-coated; undercoat is soft and close with harsh outercoat.

Characteristics and temperaments: The Standard Schnauzer like to be close to his family all the time. This breed is very protective and dominant. They guard things, places and people, making them good guard dogs. This breed does best with older and considerate children.

Care: The wiry coat is quite easy to look for. Regular combing and brushing are required to prevent matting of the undercoat.

Training and activity: These dogs are energetic and require a lot of exercise. It is likely they will get as much exercises as you can give. Avoid giving too much exercises as a puppy, because he needs the energy to grow. This breed can be willful at times, but can learn quickly, so it needs firm training.
