The Sussex Spaniel breed is a small, dignified, long and low, rectangular, strong and massive spaniel. They are steady and calm around the house. They like to work and always show enthusiasm. As a sociable dog, he gets along with cats and have good reputation with children. Sufficiently exercised, this breed is also appropriate for apartment living.

Coat: abundant, slightly waved, flat with no tendency to curl.

Characteristics and temperaments: The Sussex Spaniel loves everyone. They are sweet, devoted, gentle with lower energy level compared to other spaniels. This breed like to bark. It can be snappish if feeling annoyed. These dogs make good house and family dog.

Care: Regular brushing and combing are required to maintain the coat in top condition. Keep ears clean, trim pads of feet.

Training and activity: These dogs require daily exercise, otherwise they may put on weight quickly. Swimming and retrieving are two favorite outdoors activities. They have the tendency to follow their own nose. Obedience training as a puppy is required to socialize and teach the dog. A quick learner but independent at times, it requires a firm handler in training.
