The Dog - 19th Century Guide to Dog Breeds and Health

The Dog BookHuman being has been passionate about dogs for centuries, some history data even showed that sculptures of dogs and dog bones had been found in 8300 BC.

The dog is part of a family of similar animals that include wolves, coyotes, foxes, jackals and wild hunting dogs such as the Dingo and African Wild Hunting Dog, who all share common characteristics.

There is not much information about dogs in the old age. In 1852, William Youatt made an effort to collect and brought into one volume "a dog-lover's manual." The content of this book combines the essential and the esoteric aspects of dogs.

The book has been re-published here for you to enjoy. It should give us some perspectives about dogs, dog disease and health developed over the century. This version was edited by E. J. Lewis. M. D.

We intentionally make the pages available for comment for members, in the hope that those who are more in the know could contribute their personal opinion and add information as necessary.

Hope you enjoy this classic volume!
