Tibetan Mastiff Breed Information

The Tibetan Mastiff breed is a powerful, sturdy, well-muscled, and very large dog with a kindly appearance. They are dignified and loyal to their own family. This breed is quite inactive indoors and not suitable for apartment living. They like to climb and dig. Not recommended for inexperience dog owners, as they may be very difficult to train.

Breed Height: 25 - 28 inches.

Color(s): black and tan, golden brown, black, grey with or without tan markings.
Coat: double-coated; long, thick, coarse with heavy and soft undercoat.
Characteristics and temperaments: The Tibetan Mastiff breed is a protective, even-tempered and calm dog. They can be trusted with children but are quite reserved with strangers. Properly socialized, they become fearless and can get along well with other animals. This breed is very self-confident, can tends to be stubborn and dominant.
Care: The coat should be brushed regularly. This breed sheds once per year, of which special attention should be given during that time.
Training and activity: This breed requires daily walks. Although powerful, they should not be over-exercised. Socialization is a must to turn this dog into a fine family guard and companion. Training should be done in an environment of mutual respect. The unpredictable behavior and aggressiveness make them very difficult to train.
