Toy Breeds are usually small dog breeds for household. The toy dog is cute and lovable.

Toy breeds make a good companion for adults. They are fragile and can't withstand constant rough handling. Some of them are suitable as a lap dog, while others can be good for active companion.

Diminutive size doesn't mean a mildness temperament. Many little dogs are as tough as their larger cousins. They don't like small childrens, except Pug. Their movements can be too quick for elderly family members.

Toy dogs are generally easy care pets, but some of them require heavy grooming like Shih-Tzu, Pomeranian, Yorkshire Terrier, Maltese and Pekingese. Japanese Chin, Toy Poddle, and English Tooy Spaniel require moderate grooming and other require little or no grooming.

Several toy breeds are crossbred to produce -poo dogs, which can be good but some are ill-tempered or hyper.

Good dog breeders possibly refuse to sell to a family with active or young children.

Make sure you can handle training, activities, temperaments and housing of the pet dog before deciding on which one is suitable for you.
