The West Highland White Terrier breed is a small, well-balanced, strong and neat dog. They are fairly friendly even toward strangers. They can get along well with considerate and well-behaved children. This breed may chase a cat just for fun but will not hurt it.

Breed Weight: 15 - 21 lbs.

Breed Height: 10 - 11 inches.

Coat: double-coated; topcoat is rough, hard while undercoat is softer and short.

Characteristics and temperaments: The West Highland White Terrier breed is lively and friendly toward strangers. They get along well with older and more considerate children. When irritated, they may snap. Males sometimes fight with other male dogs. Despite the size, they make a very good watchdog.

Care: The coat is fairly easy to groom. Brushing should keep the coat clean. Bathe only when necessary.

Training and activity: These dogs enjoy a regular walk or sessions of play in the park. They can also adapt to the activity level of the family if required. Training will have to be consistent and firm. This breed can be independent and has its own mind at times, so occasionally it may need to be corrected.
